  The American guy was super cool in front of the camera and great value with heaps of information.  Brilliant!  The Canadians preferred the island beaches, whereas others  say they are too crowded and too much the party atmosphere and the smell of marijuana in the air.    Thailand caters for everybody. There is so much choice whether it be the type of landscape or what the tourist wants to do whether that be partying or relaxing away from the masses.   Hua Hin has it all really as well as being quieter than all those other destinations.  Understandably it appears to be the ideal place to settle down as an expat in retirement and live a life of leisure without any hassles .   Discovered Hua Hin and Cha am in 2002 and been all over since then. Now a lot older with a grandson and appreciating retired life, Hua Hin is my rest up place. I live in Khon Kaen province and Hua Hin is my regular direct go to holiday resort. Cha am is a Thai weekend get away. People start to arrive Friday evening and really busy Saturday morning. The beach front will be busy throughout to Sunday mid morning when people start heading home. That's it! It's just a really quiet fishing market town through the week. Hua Hin has no huge overhaul over the years and basically the same modest town now city. The perfect retirement location and quiet holiday destination for those seeking peace and quiet. There are a few streets with bars and girls but nowhere near the extreme across the water scene. I feel the word on social media is already apparent, don't go to Hua Hin if you are looking for the 20/30s up tempo vibe. With the Royal resort on the outskirts Hua Hin won't change from it's existing pleasant stay as indeed it hasn't since 2002 and before my first visit.

  Great insight on HH from some random punters Chai. We have been to Thailand 7 times since covid to find somewhere to retire early, Hua Hin ticks 95% of the boxes mate. So far have tested Phuket, (including Patong, Kamala, Rawai, Kata, Bang Tao, Nai Harn, etc, etc) it&apos;s easy to get to direct from Australia, &nbsp;however I don&apos;t speak Russian and it is too busy all year, so it&apos;s off the short list. Love Chiang Mai apart from burning season, Koh Chang and Surat Thani are great although there are better spots. Kanchanaburi is nice, too bloody hot with no sea breeze in April like most places, Bangkok has awesome infrastructure but too full on. Samui is great, getting busy and crazy expensive though! Also expensive to travel to and from Samui as Bkk Airways owns the airport and prices can be crazy. Krabi is nice, too many tourists.<br>Hua Hin is just right, maybe even 1 hr south or up to Cha Am for a slightly more chilled spot. Back in Aug-Sep for a month to lock in a spot.   If you&apos;re in need of a visa extension I highly recommend the immigration office inside Blueport Mall. &nbsp;It&apos;s the best office I&apos;ve been to. I was there today. &nbsp;I got it in about 1/2 hour and if you do have to wait longer at least you&apos;re in a mall with other things to do.

  Love Hua Hin. Been many times. Always for three, four weeks. Like the lady said, hire a scooter and you’ll never get bored. So many places to explore. The main road is busy so just go with the flow there. Other parts it’s quite safe to drive. Weekends tend to get busy there, lots of people from Bangkok come there to spend their days off.

  I can confirm the first gentlemans notes about the difference between police behaviour between Hua Hin, Phuket etc.
