  Read a lot, write a lot - I get some of my best ideas reading and listening. A word or phrase will whack my brain so hard it jars loose a whole new idea for a song, often with lyrics running through my head immediately. I LOVE those moments! Thanks, guys, for continuing to share your experience with those of us still on the uphill side. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

  AH Hugh meet him in a Class at Red Lodge Song Writer fest. His #1 hint was dont stay with anyone that doesnt support what you want to do.

  When I go to the trouble to learn the lyrics of a great song by the third or forth listen, I know that song has made a tremendous impact on me. When I'm singing along with the artist that soon, I know I've been moved. I know I want to acknowledge every musical and lyrical moment and understand why it's so great. Each time we hear these GREAT songs , we truly need to sit -up and pay close attention to  what we're feeling. And I do and have for most of my listening life. Not sure why more magic hasn't rubbed off yet.....but I'll keep studying and appreciating wonderful songs that really move me. Thank you guys for keeping this journey fresh and attainable through your guidance and experience. We follow your channel for a reason. You are making a difference that we value.

  I would add that you have to be curious: if you can't get hold of one of those books, I'm sure there's something on the subject at your local bookstore (I'm writing this outside the US). Read up on the subject. And King's book is wonderful, very entertaining.

  9am Central is a little helpful, but a day would help to narrow that down a bit ;-) <br>Good stuff, again. I&apos;m checking out the last two books. I have the Stephen King book - audio version - and love it.<br>Thanks!

  As far as rejection goes.. Jonathan Cain wrote Open Arms while he was in a band called The Babys, they rejected it. Neal Schon also hated it but it became a huge hit.

  I love rewriting. And the best part of rewriting as I get more experience is that I start to know when the asymptote happens and the bang for buck with rewrites decreases. I&apos;ll still rewrite, cuz lifting the asymptote just a tiny bit is that last 5% that makes the hit. But more and more I&apos;m learning to dive away once diminishing returns set in, diving away to seek another sweet treat that needs attention.
