Why oh why does the Princess of the Dominion have to hide what she wants to know? Why does she have to sneak around her own palace? The author has a poor understanding of authority. The Chancellor should be the one being sneaky and surreptitious, not the Princess. It becomes clear very early that the Princess is not all that bright. The warning by Ronan, the not so subtle placement of Dorian in the least secure wing, the directive to stick to the script written by the Chancellor, then the discovery of the truth about the colony incident all should have been major red flags. She is incredibly naive or is an AOC equivalent (poor thing). This story becomes highly predictable very early, I stuck around hoping for a departure from that predictable path, it is not to be, buh-bye.
