This video came out in 2006 and nearly 10 years later our tribute to this man is less than 200,000 views. That's disappointing, this video is a treasure.

This guy is sick! He must have been hatched out of a Congo drum. I'm Cuban and have seen some players but this dude is too much! He even smiles a few times during this Jam. He's like a human metronome. Mucho respecto brothe'.

Insane technique! I had the pleasure of meeting this gentleman at last year's Namm show. His playing ability is priceless. When he plays in a band he steers the ship..

I’m not a very experienced congeuro, but I play and I love to watch and study the very greatest. I’d heard David taught many great players, but after seeing this I honestly think he is the best congeuro of all time. Absolutely incredible talent. ❤ 🪘👏

Mr. David la Mole Ortiz is truly a Master!!!!My gratitude to Martin Cohen, founder of Latin Percussion, for this very special home-based video and many others.  Martin has enriched us all with his instruments and a legacy of video recordings that will be cherished by us and percussionist yet to be born.
