  I always find it crazy that QT in particular was the one of the first filmmakers to actually give her a role and script worth her talent and stardom.

  A lot of black people that was hating on those Blaxsploitation movies back then we're definitely playing into respectability politics yeah they didn't necessarily have the best representation but those movies still have an influence on the culture & eventually led to better representation in Media

  The money makes it worth it, the access to resources that enable n m any other things like homes, college educations, care for Mom at home as she ages, money on  the books for Rob who can’t stay out of jail, etc.  It’s what Msmmy said: I can make 7 dollars a week as a maid or I can make 700 dollars a week playing a maid. Real talk. There were four roles for Black women then: Mammy,  ( big, dark, humming) Peaches ( a bad bitch to cuss you out ), Whores ( prettycaramel gurls to sex you up ) and the tragic mulatto ( could pass , lusted after by white and black men). That’s it. How are we different onscreen today? Who’s writing the narrative? Tired of hearing about exploitation and the white gaze . HOW do we see ourselves? What do we think about our black girls  and women at home? Right. The flaw is the within. Use the Money. Do something different. Julie Dash, writer, producer, director and the entire LA Rebellion of  filmmakers influenced byHaile Gerina already told and showed how. If you’re still onscreen in those four stereotypical roles don’t blame Pam or the past or the plantation. Actors interpret or display what the writers, producers, and directors give them. You  don’t  have to keep saying yes to bullshit. Seen TUBI lately ? How is that work g for you? Right. Sane ish . Loved Sinvers,  but everybody  got killed but Sammy and the undead  couple  to continue in the Great Migration north. I grew up in Chicago a child of   the GM.  Fascinating. The best stories of life on earth EVER. How How did  Bronzeville become a crack house, a trap house, a killing field? Write it. Show it. Show the true colors. And stop sugar coating it. The books snd plays and screenplays exist. More to come. Carry it on. And it still takes money. Pay people.

  The production value in this video tribute to Pam  GRIER not (GEAR) is outstanding. Well done. Her best work in the 70s was "Friday Foster". But lately she's remarkable in "Cinnamon" on Tubi
