  Hey I found your channel looking for schematics of vhs camcorder circuit boards— in one of the older videos you told a story about building a tube camera… I’m 24 and a huge nerd and specifically want to build my own tube camera and have wanted to for some time and you’re the first I’ve heard of someone building one!<br><br>Just wanted to leave this comment and thank you for being a clear pioneer in this field, and that this channel is a literal gold mine of priceless experience, knowledge, and stories that I’m so happy to have stumbled upon. Going to buy old for-repair gear to tinker with as a result of the inspiration you gave. Thank you!!

  Great video! I just picked up one of these units (had 3 back in the day) and am trying to get it fired up. It initially ate the tape, but after following these steps the transport now works perfectly... thanks! BUT when I hit play I get an error light (no error messages) and no playback on a tape I know holds a session. I&apos;ve cleaned and re-seated all connections, verified the capstan and pinch roller are working well (cleaned that with tascam rubber cleaner) and the tape seems to be seated on the head correctly. Even carefully cleaned the head, but no timecode or playback levels. Any suggestions?

  Hi. I am getting error 02 on my 78hr. The head drum also has an extra top which is not on yours. Is it a head drjm spin issue?

  This might sound silly but I&apos;m...sorta in the same boat (getting in over my head)? I&apos;ve got an RCA CC250 camcorder (1987) that needed the belts replaced and I did that...mostly. It went from not working, to mostly working, to...absolutely not working again. I was wondering if there was any way to get in touch and possibly get a quote about a repair? I&apos;m having an absolute doozy of a time trying to find literally anyone to even look at this camcorder for me. Any info would be amazing, though! Thanks!

  Another one recovered :-D<br>The problem is they never get serviced until its too late.<br>But that&apos;s people and we all do this to some degree.

  I don&apos;t know why it spat out the Maxell but I don&apos;t think it was anything to do with what was or was not recorded on the tape... &nbsp;except... if the record slider was set to protect then it would know that it could not format the tape and could not play the tape so eject it. &nbsp;But I suspect there was some other reason. &nbsp;It should be able to take a Hi8 tape and format it ready for making a recording.

  Did tascam actually make hi8 mechnisums or did they just buy from sony

  So, I&apos;m curious. Did you ever find the on-off rod and button? I find it really interesting how the evolution of sound recording has come. &nbsp;Just think eve3rything is now done in solid state mode.
