My high school art teacher once told me " You've proven that you can draw it once, why would you have to prove it a second time?"

Bravo on the tool argument. Just because our tools get more advanced doesn't mean it isn't art.

I am old enough to remember teachers in schools telling us you need to know how to do this because you wont always have a calculator on you, and now we all have calculators on us. That turned into oh you need to memorize this because not everywhere has the internet so you can't always look up what you need to know. I see VR as the next step in the evolution of the tools we have at our disposal, this is a better use case for VR than 99% of VR games that are out there. This is something that would make me start to adopt VR.

Retired sign painter here, wonderful new option, great video. Amazing time saver, no more project, electro-pounce, taping the pattern on the wall in the just started wind storm. Great review of your experience. Thanks.

There is no cheating in art. Tools are just tools, and does not replace talent, or creativity. The end justifies the means.

When I was in high school, I refused to use the grid method because i thought it was cheating, or maybe it was that i wanted to prove that I could draw, I don't know... High School... It wasn't until my art teacher said to me " ok, you can draw without it, just because you can doesn't mean you cant use other tools to make your life easier." That stuck with me, took the shame out of using the grid or even transfer paper, because i knew, if i had to do it again without it, it would look exactly the same. So watching something like this is cool a hell. Solid Vid, Ten Hun!

A small comment about "cheating" Michelangelo used a method called cartone [car-tone-ay] to paint the Sistine chapel ceiling (and yes that's where the word cartoon comes from) This consisted of him drawing the characters on paper with charcoal and later transferring them onto the ceiling by rubbing the back of the paper... So, ya know, he was pretty good, I wouldn't feel too bad about vr thing. As a mural artist I'd recommend reading "Michelangelo and The Pope's ceiling" besides the unbelievable story behind the endeavor you get to know a ton about his process, you'll be amazed by the similarities. If there were iPads and VR in the 1500s I'd bet all 4 ninja turtles that he would've had them both.

Not cheating brotha. I am a mural artist as well, along with my business partner. We use projection methods all the time. We are not out to prove anything at this point in our careers. Time is money my friend. Awesome video. I'm a big quest 3 fan and I will definitely be trying mine out on the next project.

I'm an Art teacher and I allow tracing, projectors, etc.! It builds confidence in students that struggle. I agree with 10hun, 10hundred%! Use the tools to allow yourself to express yourself!

Growing up I was told that tracing was cheating and that real artists didn’t use erasers. After retiring as an illustrator for over forty years and using any tool to make my work both fast and efficient, I still think about what I was told as a kid every time I trace or pick up an eraser.

Ten having been an artist for over 40 years. I’ve come to the opinion of there is no wrong or right there’s just the end result. Keep it up. I love your work.
