Why do people always assume that early life was a struggle? The world was lush, green, and filled with wildlife. People look at the world today and believe it always looked like this, but they don't hear the empty sky. They don't miss the billions of birds they never knew existed. They don't see the loss of insects, fish, snakes, and countless other species that have disappeared in the last century. Humans have in the last century created the greatest mass-extinction event since the asteroid wiped out the dinosaurs. One day before long, mankind will wish we had it as good as the ancient peoples.
