The most amazing thing about Naoya Inoue is that unlike other fighters, he fights multiple times a year.

Japanese really have an entirely different perception of why we're doing anything. He speaks not about his place in the history of boxing, but about the popularity of the sport in general and how he should strive to maintain it. Talks about succeeding Mr. Ohashi not as of privilege, but as of duty. Of course there must be the internal desire for fame as well, but he isn't talking about himself like so many others. That discipline and dutyfulness is beyond my understanding and it fascinates me.

For those of you who are not aware, there is a reason that there are more weight classes in the lower weights. For example, Usyk weighs 226lbs, 2% of his body weight is 4.5lbs. Inoue weighs 122lbs, 2% of his body weight would be 2.4lbs. That is nearly a 2x difference. The amount of difference 2lbs makes on a performance is astronomical when comparing the two. That's why the higher you go, the farther the weight classes stretch. I'm kinda getting tired of debating the same thing to people who call Inoues achievements subpar because the "baby weights are so close together"

It’s really cool that Naoya Inoue takes pride in carrying the boxing world on his shoulders.
He says he cannot lose this fight for the popularity of boxing.
After the Cardenas fight, he even said that after two straight days of boring fights involving Haney, Garcia, and Canelo, he felt he could not afford to put on a dull performance himself.
His passion and respect for boxing are truly admirable.
A fight of the century awaits at the Tokyo Dome on May 3. Please go get the win.

Inoue is the real P4P number 1. Four fights this year and not like the other spoiled fighters fighting once every 15 months. Gotta appreciate all the entertainment throughout the years.

Let’s go Naoya. I wish he joined turki years ago. So much more light on his name instead of being behind a wall on toprank

This is the first interview I’ve watched in a long time where the words being said were not fluff or bs. I’m surprised their team is willing to be so specific about their game plan
