I feel like I have to mention this little fun fact, but in Toon society, attractiveness is based on how funny you are. So for example, Goofy is considered to be one of the most attractive Toons on earth. It’s one of the reasons why I love Roger’s and Jessica’s relationship. From a human perspective, it’s the trope of the unattractive guy dating the attractive girl, but from a Toons perspective, it’s an unattractive girl dating a very attractive guy

"Lack of fast travel"<br>WRONG. You CAN fast travel. You have to unlock it for each playground.

“Why don’t they make bombs” is definitely a statement someone who hasn’t seen the entire Trap gag track would say

LOOOOOVE TOONTOWN!!!!!!!! The hq battles are the funnest part but it takes an ungodly amount of grinding. I got up and cheered when you mentioned corporate clash. I am HYPE for event horizon. Also one HUGE correction I have to drop: I am stupid

There was a fan attempt to have the game running on private servers a few years ago and surprisingly Disney was aware of the project but neither gave them their blessing nor asked them to stop.<br>I think the process to set it up is a lot easier than it used to be, custom installer and all that now.

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJjcaZ5xdxc&t=422">7:02</a> There's a short that specifically addresses Scrooge's giant vault of gold. He says it's just petty cash and the vast majority of his wealth is invested.

So I guess I would say I'm a TTR veteran, I'll talk about the stuff you missed. You do tasks to unlock things such as more gags, the ability to hold more jellybeans and the ability to teleport (yes there's fast travel). You do get trophies from racing, golfing and fishing and you get more laff (max 140). There are 5 different bosses, the VP, CFO, CJ, CEO, and the Boiler. <br><br>Also Rewritten is still getting huge updates such as a new beach area releasing soon while honestly there was a blowup in the Corporate Clash staff so idk how they are going around now.

Tbf, of the nostalgic games ToonTown feels nostalgic because of its nicheness, not quality. I had no memories of the plot whatsoever, but remember the character creation and mini games. A lot of the games of the 2000s were played not because they were good or fun, but because they were new and interesting, or just mindlessly repetitive.

me and my brother always talk about the extreme irony that disney published toontown, which is developed as a plot, structured and simultaneously very explicit and subtle at the horrors and destruction of corporate capitalism. the bad guys that are called business termed pejoratives like Spin Doctors, Name Droppers, Bloodsuckers and much more and are called COGS and are separated into groups like Boss bots, LAW bots and CASH bots. and yet not only did disney publish it it appears that there's some people in the disney building who will always have a soft spot for the IP and allow fan projects to continue (because there's no way they don't know about the many spinoffs).

I think the main sticking point of Toontown for many from the start was uniqueness of the game. Being one of the first MMORPG's marketed specifically to children, I felt as a kid it really did offer a space where my imagination could run wild even if the game was crappy in hindsight. The imagination and mysticism of the past has turned into nostalgia for many people today (i'd say like a good 90% of the community are adults or children of adults who grew up with TTO). And at least for me, that very nostalgia has kept me in the community, even after so long. <br><br>Additionally I think the very tenacity of the community to keep a random kids' MMO from 2003 alive nearly 13 years after its original closure is an important aspect as well. A bunch of teenagers hosting servers of a game using source code copyrighted by a notoriously litigious company was quite ballsy, but somehow it has worked, even to the point where the mentioned Makeship campaigns thrive, and even IRL conventions are held on a yearly basis. The game is certainly an... interesting relic of early 2000s MMOs, but I'm proud to have been here for almost all of it. And I always love seeing the perspectives of other people on this weird ass game.
