  This made me profoundly miss a time, when I was but a child. My mother was alive, I was safe and a world of possibilities was opening up before me. <br>Now, after long years of struggles and growth, I came to realize I never grieved for the child that was me — I buried him, but never grieved for him. Judging by the tears streaming down my cheeks, I reckon the time for that has arrived.<br><br>I miss you mom. I miss old times.

  There&apos;s a type of loneliness you feel when the innocence of your youth is stripped away by modernity. Tolkien&apos;s world will always be a haven for a world I used to believe and live in. It was beautiful.

  I can imagine both Bilbo Baggins and Frodo Baggins when they both set foot on the shores of Valinor, along with Gandalf (Olorin, Lady Galadriel, master Elrond and Glorfindel, eventually Samwise Gamgee, Legolas and Gimli), all their eyes behold the light of the Undying Lands with awe and amazement. Live long and prosper friends, where ever your journeys take you.

  What&apos;s interesting to me is that in Tolkien&apos;s world, Valinor is still out there. &nbsp;We are now in the 7th Age of Middle Earth, long, <i>long</i> after the Music of Creation (what we would call magic) has faded into half-forgotten legend and myth. &nbsp;The Dominion of Men is well underway, and even though we&apos;ve managed to make a proper mess of things down here, there is still hope for us. &nbsp;This is probably just as Eru intended. &nbsp;But no matter how much we feel we&apos;ve outgrown childish nonsense like fairy tales and wizards, there is a place both near and infinitely removed from our ordinary reality where everything is as it was in the beginning, where the Music never faded, and magic may yet be found. &nbsp;Nothing we do will ever be able to harm Valinor or mar its beauty, and there&apos;s something uplifting about that, don&apos;t you think?

Olórin, the wisest of the Maiar and the sole Istar to remain true to his mission, had successfully kindled the hearts of the free people in Middle-earth to overcome the evil of their time.   My dad wasn&apos;t much of a father, but he introduced me to Tolkien and his books, starting with the Hobbit.....so I guess he did something right. Still I do miss the old bugger, even after more than 50 years. He passed away without anyone at his side, but I hope he found his Valinor.
