An interesting idea, thanks! I suggest a couple of changes: Use Baking Chocolate instead of a random candy bar. The ingredients in candy bars vary wildly in quality, components and taste. Baking Chocolate is pretty much pure chocolate. You will need to add more sugar, since Baking Chocolate does not contain any! Next, the coffee is not a bad idea, but I would use INSTANT coffee, not ground coffee beans. Coffee beans will make the finished product gritty as well as leave coffee grounds at the bottom of your cup when mixed with hot water. Ugh.

FYI: The original Army ration did NOT include coffee. Chocolate already has some caffeine and stimulants in it naturally. I saw the guy who makes historical cooking videos make this. Very fascinating history. Supposedly it's unpleasant to eat (on purpose to ensure soldiers hold onto it for emergencies) but it actually makes a pretty good hot chocolate. They milled the oat flour purposely to make it gritty and unpleasant.

Coconut Oatmeal is a thing, and would immensely improve this goodie (ughhh). Our Artillery Section in the FRG would trade our C-rations to kids for fine German beers & sausage! win:win 🙂

In the Philippines you can buy locally produced cacao which is called tableya, which would make an excellent base for the chocolate. Tablea is cocao beans which have not been fully processed int chocolate. They are used here to make hot chocolate and for other cooking.

One tip I use for making burgers might work for hand rolling those balls. Throw them from one hand into the flat of your palm over and over like a bseball while turning it each time. Do that enough and there will be zero air anywhere in it.
