I'm not an expert, but I've been reading a lot about seasonal color analysis lately. From what I've read, many professional color analysts consider the vein and jewelry tests to be unreliable. Draping is generally considered the best way to determine your season... even if that just means trying on different colored tops in natural light. Pay attention to whether certain colors make you look more vibrant and healthy or leave you looking washed out, dull, or tired. Those differences are usually much more telling than the color of your veins or whether you think you look better in gold or silver jewelry.

Cracks me up, what's old is new again. I'm 70 years young and got the whole season color theory back in my early 40s. I'm an autumn ( mid-dark auburn hair, medium skin and dark brown eyes ) but makeup wise, neutral!

Color/season analysis was a thing in the early 80s. That's when I discovered I'm a Summer. I've used that knowledge in clothes and makeup ever since.

Right, I have the “ Color Me Beautiful “ book, by Carole Jackson. I bought that back in the 80’s. eBay sells this book.❤

As a warm autumn who is also a lipstick lover, I could never understand why pinks, berries and blue-based reds looked so awful on me. Switching to deep browns and terracotta lipsticks was a game changer for me.

Color Me Beautiful Cir 1980! My mom checked the book out in and we all did our season colors when I was in middle school. What’s old is new again.

This is such a true video. I actually had a consultation with someone who does call a pallet. I am a warm autumn pallet and this has been a game changer because you don’t buy things that don’t look good on you and I didn’t realize how washed out and chalky I looked with colors that were not part of my pallet and even with colors for your clothes I stick to those same colors and that’s what looks good on me.

As a very fair, very cool toned winter, it is so hard to find neutral, everyday colors for us. When I wanted to do bold colors when I was younger, that was easy, but as we age, it is harder not to look a little clownish with bold blues, greens and purples on. If I want to wear more neutral, I tend to wear some of the muted mauves for summers.
