Jeff, you are a class act! You have my utmost respect. As a direct family member to a victim, I find it absolutely disgusting that these people think they can waltz in and make a claim on our family’s tragedy. Makes me sick to my stomach. I can’t even make a claim, although half of me died with my baby sister and my life is in shambles. There’s not a day that goes by since June 24,2021 that I don’t cry, or suffer. How dare these disgusting people think for one minute they will actually be able to submit a claim. My life is pretty much over, and I cease to exist. Im blown away at the nerve of all these despicable humans. Jeff, you have done an amazing job at keeping everyone informed, and you have my full support. - Ashley Dean

The same thing happened when the Grenfell Tower in London burned killing 72. Many people submitted claims for grants, re-housing and compensation whereas they had no connection with the building whatsoever. Those that were caught were given custodial sentences.

Jeff, you’re great! Ever since the tragedy of the Champlain Towers falling, I’ve came to your channel for updates. You provided the most well thought out, well researched and insightful information, while still being sensitive to the fact that many people lost their loved ones. I’ve gained a wealth of information about the towers from your videos. I love how informative they are and general easy to follow for other analytical, mechanically inclined people. The guy with the rude comments is likely just jealous of your wealth of knowledge. We think you’re doing a great job! Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the update! I tried looking up a few names and came back with nothing. More than likely scammers using fake names.

Jeff, there are so many haters on social media, thanks for "defending yourself"! You are a thoughtful class act and I totally enjoy your postings and have shared them with many friends who have something to do with buildings!

On the Houston building.... that whole area was flooded during Harvey. I wonder if they had any issues because of this or the ongoing drought.

You're so right about the depths of people's depravity, filing these fraudulent claims. Honestly, I've only watched one other engineer talk about this subject and thankfully, he never mentioned you, good or bad. Everything you've said seems perfectly reasonable to me. I'm not an engineer but I do know my physics, and you don't have to be a physicist to know how insanely heavy all that tile is. You just have to lug around a box of it.

Thanks Jeff for staying with this story. At the end, you comment about a lot of added weight and that you didn't say that it caused the collapse. In failure analysis, lots of 'little things' are considered and sometimes, they are contributing factors. In this area of engineering, people talk about the swiss cheese effect. This effect is described as a series of steps that have to happened for a failure to occur. The cheese is supposed to stop failure but every now and then, the holes in the cheese aligns and failures can slip through. Your thoughts about the tile, added weight and lack of proper maintenance will all be considered in depth in the final report concerning this failure. You are right to wait for the final word on the 'cause'. I'm with you (and I bet we all are on your side here) that the final report will have lists of contributing factors that led to the collapse.

Wow, 636 people claimed to have been in the building when it collapsed. No wonder it came down under that occupant load!

This is why lawyers are generally held in such well deserved contempt.

I live in Pennsylvania and I had an uncle die in Arizona and the court receiver notified us that because our father, his brother, was deceased, we were next in line to receive monies from our uncle's estate. All of the information was had by the court receiver, so if the Champlain Towers court receiver believes that these people are fraudulent....they're fraudulent. What a shame.
