  how THE FUCK have American influencers misinterpreted this song as a “I’m not like the norm, I’m just different” song. This is so obviously about rich people cosplaying as the working class 😭

  The line that hits the hardest is - "You'll never fail like common people, and watch your life slide out of view", because it's so true. People from poor areas of the country often try so hard to have better lives, but we fail and fail and fail. Because the odds are stacked against you. And decades go by, where we're just stuck. It's only in my mid 40s that I've started to succeed a little, and to experience some of the things I've always dreamed of. And I'm not talking big things - just foreign holidays, car ownership and innocent things like that. Trying and failing is something that really defines being working class. We're very aspirational - we just don't succeed that often.

  In the next aisle over in that supermarket you'll find Thom Yorke, singing Fake Plastic Trees, also in a supermarket trolley. Ah, the 90's...when you couldn't get your shopping done due to angsty singers getting in the way of the butternut squash display.

  My Dad joined the navy in ww2 underage. He fought the whole war in a warship and then was released to the Gas Board once he was of no more use to the country. From there he worked various manual jobs and brought me and my sister up with my Mum. We were always short of money. He was always shat on one way or another. And then just as he got to retirement age, he got cancer and died a pretty horrible death. All those years he laboured. All those years he grafted to give me and my sister a better life. The lines &quot;You will never understand how it feels to live your life with no meaning or control and with nowhere left to go&quot; hit hard. I can imagine him laying there in bed at night worrying about money and about his family and thinking this struggle must be worth something some day but no, there was no happy ending for him and his life slid out of view. God bless dad and thanks Jarvis for the lyrics that sum it all up so well

  i walked past jarvis a few weeks ago and he must have noticed i recognised him because he looked at me and pulled a silly face/stuck his tongue out. it was a strange moment lol

  I&apos;m surprised David Tennant never had the opportunity, in his slightly younger years, to be in a parody or homage of this song and clip, as he and Jarvis share a very similar build and vibe 😄

  I love the way he gets more agressive with the phrase &quot;Wanna live with common people like you&quot; when he repeats it at the end. It&apos;s pretty much him being like &quot;The AUDACITY of this BITCH.&quot;
