The endless customization is the whole point, and that freedom is beautiful. But it also means people pour money into mods that look cool for a week and then either fall apart, get in the way, or actively make the vehicle worse. Rapid fire, we roast the worst offenders. Amazon stick-on plastic everywhere, from colored hinge covers to fake fender vents to anodized interior trim that traps dirt and does nothing. Grille swaps that turn a classic seven slot into an Angry Birds character while choking off airflow the engine actually needs. Non-functional Smittybilt steps that fold like tin foil, rust in a year, and steal your ground clearance. Spare-tire-mounted racks that shift and wobble on the mildest service road because physics does not care about your ratchet straps. MOLLE panels bolted into the exact spot your knee lives. Lights on every possible surface, including the newest trend of mounting them down on the steering spindles where everything hits. Rear window exo racks that rip off on tight BC trails and take your hardtop with them. Non-street-legal headlights and taillights that blind everyone and are not DOT approved, with Morimoto as the rare exception that actually works. Off-brand Chinese tires with names nobody has ever heard of on the single most important safety component of your vehicle. And fly-by-night knockoff wheels that copy the good brands at half the price and half the quality. The message underneath all our roasting is simple and genuinely useful. Spend your money where it counts, on capability, on suspension, wheels, tires, and shocks, and you will have so much more fun. Everything else is secondary. Do your research and buy quality.
