  The dynamic where Esther is pulling at Daniel with the implication to have him stay, and he wishes he good night and leaves is interesting. Because not only does it touch on a meaningful interaction but it also blends reality and fiction.<br><br>The first episode of this series had immense backlash to Daniel&apos;s sexualization of Esther. When he awkwardly flirted with Esther and expressed that attraction to Dana the comments were filled with negativity towards the character. Given that the line between Daniel the actor, and Daniel the character, is quite blurry, I felt like it was unlikely there was going to be any sexual intimacy in the scene, and especially not on Daniel&apos;s behalf. It&apos;s cool how the ambiguity between reality and fiction creates these meta expectations of what&apos;s to come.<br><br>As for the characters themselves, Esther clearly expresses a desire for intimacy with Daniel in everything but words. And a lot of people in the comments seem to have this idea that Esther knows what she wants and should just tell Daniel and be with him. <br><br>But entering a relationship with a poly couple, explicitly conveying desire, is not exactly a stable long-term decision. You&apos;d be entering a relationship with your friend&apos;s long term lover, who also functions as your landlord, reassessing your relationship values, while also turning your closest friends in the town into people that you can possibly lose.<br><br>It seems unfair that some people expect that just because Esther is in love with Daniel that she should date him. There&apos;s this notion of romance that two people who love each other should be together whatever the costs. Yet what happens if you come from cultures that hate each other, or you&apos;re already in a relationship, or your family values are diametrically opposed? Young people and romanticists ruthlessly pursue love at all costs. But as we gain more life experience and gain things we can lose, we understand that love always comes with some opportunity cost or personal sacrifice.<br><br>The show presents these intimate relationships in a beautifully condensed and meaningful manner. But I disagree with others who mistake brevity as an indicator of simplicity. My opinion is that Esther has the hardest choice to face out of anyone in the show and that she would benefit from explicit introspection and assessing her values, not impulsively gambling on a life changing decision.

  It&apos;s official. You&apos;ve made an episode that made my heart hurt with love and longing at the same time. I can&apos;t describe the mix of warmth and sharpness I felt in my chest during the middle 70% of this episode.
