Gaming Roundtable #264 - Gamescom 2026, GTA 6 30FPS Debate, Fable Showcase & Xbox Backs Physical?

In this episode of The Gaming Roundtable, we break down Gamescom 2026 and the biggest Xbox stories coming out of the show, including the new Fable showcase, Xbox’s surprising physical game support, and what all of this says about Microsoft’s gaming strategy moving forward. Fable is back in the spotlight with Playground Games showing more of Albion, combat, characters, tone, and the direction of the long-awaited RPG reboot. After years of questions around delays, visual changes, morality systems, Xbox exclusivity, Game Pass, and whether modern Fable can still feel like classic Fable, this Gamescom showcase could be a huge moment for the franchise. We also dive into Xbox’s new disc-to-digital feature and ask whether Microsoft is actually supporting physical games or simply building a bridge into a more digital future. With the gaming industry moving further away from discs, this could be a big win for players who still care about physical media, ownership, preservation, and access to their existing libraries — or it could be another step toward digital-only gaming with extra layers. On top of that, we talk about GTA 6, the 30fps conversation, performance expectations, and reactions to the Netflix special. GTA 6 is one of the biggest games in the world before it even launches, but the conversation around frame rate, trailers, marketing, and expectations keeps getting bigger. From Gamescom 2026 and Fable’s big showcase to Xbox’s physical media surprise, Game Pass, digital ownership, GTA 6, and the future of console strategy, this episode gets into one of the most interesting weeks for gaming in a long time. If you enjoy gaming news, Xbox discussion, Fable, Gamescom reactions, GTA 6 talk, physical vs digital debates, Game Pass strategy, and honest roundtable conversations, this episode is for you.
