For me, The Fog will always be his best movie, with the only exception being The Thing. The Fog is an amazing movie with incredible acting and creepy scenes!

Scared me more than Halloween , the score the atmosphere, the multiple unseen threats , love this movie more now in my 50's .

I got to meet Adrienne Barbeau and Tom Atkins at a small horror convention near the location of the original Night of the Living Dead. She was wonderful and very funny. Tom invited us to a screening of Halloween 3 the following month. He even remembered us and sat behind us. He was telling the guy he sat with behind the scenes stuff but we heard all the stories! It was a cool experience all around.

The Fog is still my favorite John Carpenter film. Halloween is one of those films that has suffered from a case of overexposure and is really derivative of Black Christmas, which is one of the few films that actually scared me. I cannot recall if I got to see The Fog when it was released. In the 80's I was at the peak of my horror movie fanaticism. It's possible that I badgered my mother to take me to see it when it played at the local drive-in. I wouldn't get my first car for several years and mom was a sport. She took me to see Dawn of the Dead. I can only imagine what she was thinking when the zombie gets its head blown off. My favorite scene in The Fog is when the Adrienne Barbeau character is playing a tape of radio promos and the piece of wood her son found on the beach begins to ooze sea water. It drips down into the tape machine and distorts the voice until we hear a male voice say, "It's like an albatross around the neck...no..more like a millstone..." And then the machine explodes. It's a genuinely creepy moment. I like the twist and the ghosts are not who we initially think they are and their story is discovered. Hal Holbrook gives an excellent performance and gives what might have been a very silly story weight and plausibility.

Atmosphere, the fog had that in bucket loads. Great movie 🎬 recommended the view if you haven't seen it.
