  If you didnt understand how pointers work, he finds a animal and barks at the animal. Basically the animal will be nervous but it wont be able to spot you and flee if you are not 20-30 yards close.

  turn ur hud on when you’re far away from the pointer it says “waiting for owner” you just gotta be close around him and he’ll search a perimeter around you. the dog relies on the player moving.

  The dog has to physically point for it to get levelling xp. For large game he doesn’t necessarily sneak and crouch point like he would for small game, he’ll just trot up to them and bark to make them alert freeze until you shoot one. Unfortunately its sometimes hard to tell if he points without then HUD up (it tells you what the dog it currently doing). I also find he doent stick with you as much as the bloodhound naturally does. You have to keep reminding him to heel until you have him levelled and bonded up.
