  Adam it is just so refreshing to view your diaries I’m not gonna lie I do believe that you have a coffee addiction which is hilarious. I love Bali but haven’t been able to get back over to Bali of late hopefully soon and honestly with a cold winter in New Zealand it just takes the edge off watching your diaries online thank you 🙏🌿.  My friend you are basically doing a public service for the good of humanity.

  Hi Adam. Yesterday we went to a new  coffee shop   here in Hobart  TAS (Happy Larry’s)run by an Indonesian family. The coffee was superb so when one of the girls asked us how it was I said ‘ah mantap’ she dissolved into happy laughter and said it made her day that I should use Indonesian to answer her. So there you go, a little bit of Bahasa can make it into a great experience 😂.  Cheers Lyndell and Steve

  Bali accounts for around 55% of Indonesia’s total tourism revenue in foreign currency, yet a significant share of the public revenue generated by tourism accrues to the central government in Jakarta. At the same time, it is largely Bali that has to bear the costs of mass tourism – traffic, waste, water consumption, environmental pressure, and strain on infrastructure.<br><br>The Visa on Arrival (VoA) fee, for example, goes to the national government and not to the Bali provincial government. At the same time, foreign investors and consortia – particularly Chinese ones – profit from major infrastructure, real estate, and tourism projects on the island.<br><br>The dilemma, therefore, is that Bali both generates an enormous share of the value and bears a large share of the costs, while the central government and foreign investors simultaneously reap a significant portion of the economic gains.
