  Going to my first orthodox church service tomorrow with my 3 boys, wife wont come but that my fault since I haven’t been the greatest example of Christ to her.

  I remember our dear Father John Whiteford mentioning a story similar to this, and it&apos;s so true. I took my Jewish father-in-law to Divine liturgy this past Sunday, and he immediately understood all the veneration going on throughout the service. He wasn&apos;t scandalized at all because it reminded him of an Orthodox Jewish service. He went on to list all of the examples where kissing sacred objects is normal practice. It&apos;s funny that some of our Protestant friends are always appealing to modern day Jews for some authentic version of worship, but there&apos;s a complete disconnect when it comes to the Orthodox Church.

  Protestants explode when I explain to them that the Bible they proclaim to be the only real source was actually compiled by the Greek Orthodox Church, and back then, it was just called &quot;the Church&quot;.

  Genuinely recommend that anyone who&apos;s confused about the material here should read at least the beginning of the Orthodox Study Bible. It lays out the schisms, why they happened, and how things have progressed from there. Really put it into perspective for me, and it made me realize that I always thought Christians were wacky nut jobs because I thought all Christians were protestants.

  the first proof of the use of icons is not only the iconography on the walls of the first build churches that we can still find today. but also in the OT, not only in the instructions God gave to create imagery in the Temple but also in the icon Moses created to save the Hebrews from snake bites.<br><br>the cross itself is an icon too, which is plastered in almost every protestant church (something they are slowly removing btw).

  As a quadriplegic in a protestant household it’s hard to get anywhere. I&apos;d like to attend an orthodox liturgy. Unfortunately, I can only sit in my chair for about 4 hours and I feel bad most of the week. I&apos;ve started crossing when I feel bad, and listening to father Moses sermons on YouTube. I&apos;d appreciate any prayers. Praying that I walk again in God&apos;s timing.
