They should've had a flying car exhibit. We're never getting those

I don’t get it. Just make it retro futuristic.

I personally like that 1950's retro sci-fi look that it started off with, and I wouldn't bother trying to chase a constant future look but just double down on that wonderful retro futurism look

I used to work in Discoveryland at Disneyland Paris and its so much better as its a retro steampunk victorian view of the future inspired by Jules Verne and HG Wells, the attractions used to reflect that but theyre all IP now, Space Mountain was based on From the earth to the moon and now has a Star wars overlay that doesnt match the outside as theres already Star Tours which fits in for the theming towards the back

I love the idea of going back to a retro-futurism aesthetic. Sure, the rocket for example does not look like a modern launch vehicle, but it does look like something out of a 50’s sci-fi comic book and that is really cool and interesting.

Totally undersold Tokyos new Space Mountain. It’s not just a “refurbishment”. They are literally making a whole new “mountain” with a new custom intamin family thrill coaster inside, right next to the old Space Mountain. It’s not a small American style refurbishment, it’s a total replacement.

Keeping something looking futuristic is near impossible unless you lean into a “retro futuristic” style. They pretty much need to do a complete overhaul if they want to make it at all cohesive

It is less that “tomorrow becomes today”, and more that what we view as a futuristic aesthetic today becomes dated. In a similar way to how Farmhouse Modern is now considered dated but seemed fresh and modern a decade ago

i honestly don't undersand why paris is letting half of discoveryland be an unofficial star wars mini land. it's just a massive clash between the exteriors and interiors of the buildings lol

People keep saying retro-futuristic is what it should be. But why not some other cool future theme? Like Cyberpunk, Solarpunk or just actually just do futurism and eat the losses as the multi billion dollar visionaries they used to be?
