I bought my Klipsch forte 2s in '93, for $1200. Not the greatest speaker but they're damn good and the more clean power you give them the tighter and more accurate they become. I'm happy with them and don't need approval from any1. 😉.

The narrator said it at the end "In his opinion..." Everyone has different budgets, life-styles, and tastes. What sounds good to one person may not to another, that's why there are so many options to choose from. I do believe the performance gains the higher up you go decrease a lot. Someone with the money might want that 2 or 3% difference. I'm more realistic when it comes to budget and sound. I live in 80-90% range and am very happy. A $1000-$3000 DAC might me only 2-3% better than my $200 DAC, I'm good with that. I'm not about impressing anyone except myself. Same with speakers. I'm looking now and don't intend to spend more that $3.2K on a pair. They have seriously outperform my current Polk's, produce sound I can listen to all day, be the right-size for my room, and look good in my space. If not, I'll keep using what I have.

Several manufacturers sell direct to customer. I recommend GR Research. Watch a few videos and see for yourself. Or DIY kits, with quality drivers AND crossover.
