So basically Yakuza boomers caused too much collateral damage, got canceled by government, businesses and society, and were replaced by UberCrime

Oh so THATS why Konami intentionally sabotaged itself to quit video games and make pachinko games until the last few years. The yakuza may have forced them.

1. The yakuza are dying out because no one needs them anymore. Not even their descendants. Everything they can do, their competitors can do too, but more flexibly and liberally.
2. And also because they've become too tied to fanaticism and ceremony, which modern criminals are unwilling to accept.
3. Official institutions have lost the need to tolerate them, and the yakuza never had the firepower to defend themselves equally against official institutions.

Baito also has a general sense of something closer to gig work and temporary side hustles.
Yamibaito is straight up the uberification of crime.
Imagine somebody puts the word out that they need a truck unloaded at 2am, no questions asked, you show up, unload one truck into a different truck, get handed an envelope of cash, and go home. Nobody knows anyone else, nobody wants to.
