  My mom lived on the island for a few years as a child<br>The locals all chose to move back when the volcano forced them to the UK to resettle temporarily

  Tristan da Cunha honestly feels less like an island and more like Earth’s way of testing how far humans are willing to live from absolutely everything. Endless ocean, tiny communities, and isolation so extreme it makes small-town life look like downtown Manhattan. Even Amazon delivery probably gave up trying.

  I have had the honor of setting foot on Tristan as well as befriending some of its people.I lived and worked on Gough island for 13 months and some of the Tristanians came to visit us for 2 weeks. On the way back from Gough we stopped at Tristan for a few days before returning to Cape Town.

  I found out about this place when I was much younger, in my early 20s. I found out about it because I researched what is the inhabited place furthest from land. <br><br>My reason was that I wanted to find a place as untouched by light polution as possible. I want to look into the stars and see them as people saw them before darkness was taken from us. I would lovd to spend a year there.

  I remember in 1963some came to South Africa and they went back after after the volcano settle and I all so remembered how scared to cross the road

  I think I could live on Tristan da Cunha for a year. But at the very least, I would need to take my computer with me so I could write and do some research, and I would also need some books. I would definitely enjoy hiking there. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful video.
