  My grandfather had one of these that lasted 65 years. We used to play on it when we were kids take the mower deck off and just drive it through the woods. It was like a real tractor. Just small smaller.

  My dad bought a 10 horsepower cub i had 1963 he gave 800 dollars for the tractor and a grader blade. I had 3 brothers and we mowed 3 acres with it every week and used it for a lot of other things also. My brothers and l ran it hard and gave it every test we could it was tough and &nbsp;we proved it. My dad traded it 83 and got 1600 dollars on the trade for another cub but it was never the tractor his first one was. When i got older and had a bigger yard to mow i bought one in 98 but it was not made by International and is was junk. I wish my dad had kept the first one he bought and if he had i would have it now

  Cast iron transmission and differential are the strength compared to some of today being plastic and broken within several years . Great design.

  Our Cub 1650 has been in the family for 51 years. Just received a new electric PTO for it today. Getting it&apos;s snowblower ready for winter.

  If you think that they overengineerd it, look up Gutbrod, the 1000,2000 and 3000 series. 8 speed gearbox, 3 ptos, hydraulics, front back and middle lift / three point, 4wd on the 2000 series, difflock, cabines with heaters.

  Great story, shared! We had no lawn movers of any kind in the USSR, because we had collectivism and all tractors in the city were working for everyone living in the city, no private property and in the village every family had its own garden, but tractors were in shared posessino of all the villagers, members of commune, and everyone was a member since birth, and thouse refused to participate were kulaks and were exiled.

  Have my dad’s 1969 model 73. Still works. He mowed and plowed snow with it.

  We still have our Model 129 Hydrostatic. It came with a plow and a cart which are still used today along with the 44&quot; mower deck. This model didn&apos;t have headlights strangely enough.

  Family friend worked for International and worked on it. Hi son still uses the one he bought the first year it came out. We had a 1970 147 with the hydrostatic transmission, that thing would do wheelies going full throttle from reverse to forward... The PTO clutch was ridiculous.

  I agree with most of what was said here except the time line. My first full time employer had a Cub Cadet built in 1957. It was a beast. It had the creeper gear and a timed two blade mower deck. He also had the optional snow blower with which he would clear the sidewalks from his house to the shop (about 7 city blocks) and the driveway of my parents service station. This would have been 1974. The mower was previously owned by the Browns Grove Cemetery Assn. and had mowed the ten acre cemetery for 12 years before he purchased it. It had cast iron wheel weights to give it extra traction. He also had tire chains for the rear wheels for use with the snow blower attachment. At that time you could still purchase any part needed from the IH dealer. I would be surprised if it wasn&apos;t still in use at this time.
