Out of their entire catalog, “Grace…” remains my absolute favorite, and I’ve been around since Caress of Steel.

25:27 Signals was released before any of the members turned 30. It is crazy how technically mature they were as musicians. They were wise beyond their years.

I played the Signals album over and over in the 80s. I love it.

Would be really sad if we never got "Digital Man". My favorite Rush song.

1984, I was 14, and that is when I became a RUSH nut. It is my older brother that initiated me to their music; he was into RUSH since moving pictures. That summer of 1984, my first summer job on a golf course, picking up balls on the practice range at the end of the day, with the sun coming down, dew forming on the ground…with my WALKMAN, I was literally the Walking man behind the single « shag-roller »…just like a lawn mower, ball by ball, they fell into the basket while my earplugs blasted away the Grace Under Pressure album, song after song, synth heavy, guitar riffs that brought me far away from the mind numbing task that enabled me to play golf during the day. Good memories. Now 2026, never thought I would see the boys live again… I spared no expense to see them in Toronto and Montréal for my 14th and 15th rush concert . It was priceless and I’m lucky to have been born in the same century as Alex, Geddy and Neil and to have witnessed their musical journey and to have felt their music.

There's some anger in the "Kid Gloves" solo - and it's one of Alex's best!

Not sure if you can say they intentionally hurt their career, they were just doing what they always did, experimenting and growing, consequences be damned. Things ended up working out, and they learned a lot about themselves in the (stressful) process. Great stuff Robert.

I always felt that Alex found his new sonic pallet on this album. The guitar work is still incredible today. The solos he came up with are so well composed.

For me, GUP is arguably Lifeson's best guitar album. Very textured sound, less power chords. It's like if Andy Summers made a hard rock album. It has some of his best solos, especially the ones on Between The Wheels and Kid Gloves. If you haven't yet heard the recent Terry Brown remix of this album go and check it out.

Signals is a phenomenal album. Subdivisions might be their most sublime moment.

They stopped writing songs with guitar riffs as the basis of the compositions. That’s why people (and Alex, too) think Alex’s guitar suffered in the 80s. I, for one, love Alex’s transformation in the 80s. I love how he became a texturalist. It was so much more interesting to me as a young guitarist, my having started playing guitar around the time Signals came out.
