That unused haunting animation of Eileen actually scared me… wasn’t expecting it.

With all the fanmods and remasters being made for the older games, maybe some dedicated fans might be able to mod some of this cut content back into the games. Even if you can't really do anything with it, it'd be cool to see.

5:40 I'm European and I've always felt that this article was quite important for the story of Alessa. Its absence in the US version of the game may explain why I stumbled upon so many Americans who seemed to be quite confused about what happened to her, basically missing information.

That unused Eileen footage is far creepier than the Eileen Head in the hospital. That twitching is scary as hell!

You missed something for Silent Hill 4. A bit obscure, but you can find concept art for the ghost enemies of Silent Hill 4 which, after examining closer, you will find is none other than James Sunderland as a ghost seemingly reaching out from a wall. Whether his model was just used as a point of reference for the enemy or if there was ever going to be some kind of James Sunderland boss battle (sounds a bit wacky for me tbh), we're not entirely sure. Still, it's interesting.

Surprised not to see any mention of the demo version of Silent Hill 2, in which Pyramid Head is a wandering monster in the apartment buildings.

Taking a guess here, but "the snake" is probably taking inspiration from the tsuchinoko, which is essentially a fat and short snake in appearance.

SH3 reuses assets from SH2 because of its rushed development (Heather's model also exists in SH2 game files). Alessa can ride one of the horses if you avoid her for a while.

From a game dev: We often use UI from previous games as placeholder in the early development phase. This way we can establish a ux before we have the respective art assets. We need to be able to click buttons etc and no matter the game, things like the main menu will always have similar content, so it's easy to recycle.

The still image with the "coming soon" font is used as a placeholder for an animated cutscene, which is still in the making in another department (or even in another studio). I don't think it was necessarily used on a demo CD.

Very cool video, loved watching it!

Perhaps the frog is meant to represent a cut memory of Alessa where she dissects a frog for her science class? A lot of the monsters are her childhood fears that you can find in drawings in her room

The reason the Closer has that animation was because, and this is something I've theorized for a long time, it was going to originally be the final melee enemy of SH2. The Closers are actually in that game in a lower-poly fashion as the Mandarins. They would use this animation to climb up from the fencing at your feet and attack you as they did in SH3. This is most likely why SH2 starts reusing the Abstract Daddy boss and Nurses so much after the Hospital level. I know there's no actual direct evidence of this besides some of the developers mentioning that they liked the model and finished it for SH3, but I think it's fairly self-evident to some extent; SH2 is ridiculously easy compared to SH1 and SH3 and I think the fact that the main enemies are all close-range, easy to outrun melee-enemies is an indication that these creatures were going to be the final melee monsters and were cut for polish-time.

I believe the buildings were changed in Silent Hill 2, because game developers often use real life storefronts as textures, they probably changed the fronts because they didn't have permission to use them in the game.
