If you think about it, Rashta is just Cinderella...but in a tragically more realistic world.

The husband is and will always be the real villain. Dude was like” I can’t believe Navier hates me just because I devorced her! I was gonna marry her again after Rashta had my son how can she be so selfish?!”

Finally someone said it. Lebetti wasn't innocent either. Instead of hating her father and brother for mistreating Rashta, they blamed rashta for being a slave

Rashta is a well written villain and you will never change my mind. The way she destroyed everything was beautiful.

People want female complex characters but they can't even handle Rashta 😂

I can't read this Webtoon. I can't get past the hate for a disadvantaged slave trying desperately to secure a place where she won't have to fight to survive...

The biggest issue i have the soveishu’s role in this is that he took rashta BECAUSE she was naive, he once told Navier he would break the cycle of having other wives, and what does he do?? takes a slave for a mistress. He liked that he had full control of her and that she was nothing like navier. I agree with everything thats pointed out except for the emperor who in reality is JUST like Rashta. He feels inferior, and refuses to take ownership of what he did wrong until its beyond fixing because he didnt care about Navier’s feelings their marriage was dead because he was the one that caused himself and navier to become infertile by eating cookies meant for his father’s mistress…

there was a great side story at the end of the novel where Sovieshu sends her to Navier instead of taking her as a mistress and I low key loved it, she basically became ride or die for Navier when she becomes one of her handmaidens but Navier actually treated her kindly and gave her guidance. She actually ends up hating Sovieshu for cheating on Navier with a foreign princess (because Sovieshu is shit on his own and it wasnt because of Rashta that he was who he was) and wrecks the princess's room for Navier(because Navier herself couldnt act out so rashta did it on her behalf without being asked but Navier does protect her after that). she def is still a little unhinged but the side story shows that all she wanted was to be loved and once she gets this from Navier and not from people who are using her in some way it turns her in a more lovable character. there is even a duke that shows interest in her but she decides to stay with Navier and begs Navier to keep her because she just wants to be by her side. And Navier now also feeling affectionate towards Rashta gladly accepts.

The “remarried empress” is a plain story that we will never forget because of Rashta. We hate her but recognise the tragedy in her behaviour. She is a well written character: how could we expect a crafty villainess from an uneducated slave that knew nothing of the world outside her surroundings? From our perspective she acts stupidly but we have to take in consideration that she is trying to survive in an environment where everyone had a better starter pack. Her simple plans that don’t take in consideration that other people think and act, the way she refuses to study when she’s given the opportunity because she doesn’t see knowledge as a tool for survival, or how she takes lightly the role of an empress. She is ignorant and acts like one, it would have been way stranger if she was on par with Navier on this aspect. I still hate her (she was truly able to get under my skin) despise knowing of her tragic story but I respect the consistency and coherency of her character until the very end

The Villianess genre suffers from the same sickness as the Isekai genre regarding power systems, they're both designed to put the insert character at the top of the existing hierarchy without really examining the issues with the system itself. Slavery, as pointed out, is the most obvious example. It's too often that characters in these stories think, "how dare this person stand above their station". Its always the other emperor, king or duke to come to aid the villianess and reinforce righteousness of the system that puts these people into boxes and roles. The whole genre would be significantly better if writers more critically examined the worlds they create. But that's not what these stories are for lol, people want to be clever, misunderstood princesses just as much as op badasses and just need a fantasy world that will allow that.
