  Winrate doesn’t tell much about a characters strength by itself. Strong characters would have a mid to high winrate but a relatively high pick rate while characters with high winrate but low pick rates are usually specialists characters

  The reason you see so many op meta characters with low win rates is because they&apos;re played a lot by everyone. It&apos;s simple statistics.<br>Lets say 100,000 people play Gambit, which is a lot because he&apos;s obviously good. And about 48,000 people win their game on Gambit. That means Gambit has 48% win rate, which seems low, but theres 48,000 people winning with him, which is pretty substantial.<br><br>Now take someone with a much lower pick rate like Storm but a much higher win rate of 55%. Lets say that because of her low pick rate, only 10,000 people go Storm, but 5,500 people win their games on Storm.<br> Storm has a higher win rate, but that doesn&apos;t mean she wins more than Gambit in total. It&apos;s 5,500 to 48,000. <br><br>Something to also take into consideration is that more niche and non-meta characters tend to have a more dedicated and skilled players because they know they have to practice more and try harder to get their favorite characters to work against other more valuable characters. A good flyer main on Iron Man or Torch, for example, might understand positioning more and have better awareness than a Phoenix or Hela who don&apos;t share that skill as much because they can just shoot at anything and get major value so they aren&apos;t forced to learn skills like positioning or awareness as much.<br><br>All of that is to say that meta characters having lower win rates than you might expect doesn&apos;t really mean much at the end of the day. Just a lot of fundamentally bad players being carried by their characters kit, not their own skills.
