Rwandans are really reserved sometimes you may have to talk to them first and if you are of a certain age it may be hard to find friends with similar interests considering most women who are in your age bracket are married and may not be as outgoing you should try kenya it may be not be as clean, safe and green but it is vibrant ,very diverse and very welcoming as well i live here as a rwandan and i love it

What makes me happy and thankful to God is the way my country Rwanda is compared to other countries like Nairobi , Capetown , .... things that could not happen 20 , 30 years ago but now it's brought on the table , on the scene.

Discussions are vital means the leadership of Rwanda has really hard worked. I congratulate the leadership. Keep continuing for more and better again.

honestly, i agree with you , i grew up in rwanda and lived in the US for 8 years, my people are very reserved people, when I returned home , I realized how different we are from other cultures, I think sometime it can be language barrier because majority of people above 30 years old in rwanda are french speaking, it can be hard to make friends,

I would like to visit Rwanda, Rwandese people are so beautiful, I’m introverted, I grew up in Sweden and love peace and quiet. My favorite city in Africa is Nairobi, I love Mombasa and Zanzibar too.

Great synopsis! I spent 6 months in Kigali in 2022 and you are spot on. I feel like Rwanda is only good for young families or retirees. At the 5 month mark, I knew I had to go to Ghana just so I could feel vibrance and life again.
Rwanda is great to visit if you need rest.

I've been in Rwanda for about 2 years now. You certainly hit some pertinent points. For the more social individuals, I would recommend a room in a shared Airbnb - it will help you connect with a huge swathe of locals and expats.

As someone familiar with Rwandan culture and history, I can attest that a female foreigner over 30 years old and single may enjoy a two-week visit to Rwanda, but building connections with locals can be challenging. Many Rwandans, approximately 90%, may not respect an unmarried woman, They may cut ties with someone they've connected with if they find out you're single and have never been married. and may view her as a prostitute or someone traveling for sex. This can lead to indirect disrespect and a reluctance to associate with her, although younger people in their 20s may be more open to friendship.

I agree with your views. I’m Nigerian and also well traveled. I went to Rwanda a couple of months ago and stayed for a week. Right of the bat I noticed they are generally not as warm and welcoming as other ppl from other countries that I’ve interacted with. They’re polite but distant which put me off abit. I did enjoy their weather though, and the cleanliness and safety of Kigali.

What a great video! I lived in Rwanda for 1 years after visiting for approximately 5 years. My husband and myself are semi retired but working online and we thought would be our final destination. The house you stayed in was next door to our house in Kicukiro, Kagarama. I’d recognized it because the owner has 4 identical homes next door to one another, what a small world! We have a great network of friends there who are Black American expats and we also have local Rwandan’s who have adopted us as a family. All the point you made I agree with. We left because of the distance, we have adult children and didn’t want to be so far away. We plan to visit Rwanda a few months out of the year but have our base closer to our kids. I look forward to learning more about your journeys ❤
