  I lived and did business in Guyana for many years, &nbsp;Beauty is a personal choice, I loved living there, I was the only white man there.

  I lived in Georgetown for eight months. &nbsp;The people are generally very friendly once you know them. &nbsp;However it is an extremely dangerous city and you need to know where not to go. Every guard in every store walks around with automatic rifle. To me, as a foreigner I saw a lot of rivalry, including the murder of my next door neighbours by a member of a different racial group. &nbsp;As a foreigner you don’t want to exacerbate that. &nbsp;<br><br>It is an amazingly beautiful country, especially where there is a lack of human created trash.<br><br>I made some great friends there and had some wonderful experiences because I was there for an extended period. I am not &nbsp;sure I would go there as a tourist for a short period. If you are a history or nature buff it is definitely worth a visit but don’t go there expecting beautiful sandy beaches with lots of amenities. <br><br>“Western Food” is expensive, &nbsp;but eating like a local is cheap. Getting outside the city is hard and distances and travel times are considerable. (Don’t forget the muddy roads in the rainy season! ) <br><br>I would go back f I had a purpose like work but not for a week or two as a tourist.<br><br>PS: There are lots of very beautiful women and yes lots of handsome men!
