Getting parodied by Weird Al was a sign that an artist had "made it".

Michael Jackson loved his work so much that when he finished filming the music video for Bad, he then reached out to All to invite him to film his parody Fat there before they tore down the set.

Fun Fact: There's a phenomenon called the 'Yankovic Bump" where the original artist's album sales go up AFTER Al parodies one of their songs.

What a lot of people miss about this is HOW Al rewrote the lyrics. The flow of the parody and the flow in the original are identical. Where chamillionaire goes triple-time, Al does too. Where there is an ABAB rhyme structure in the original lyric, Al will make some nerdy rhyme with that ABAB structure and if the next verse is ABBA, Al will recreate that as well. Listen to the original and then to the parody, it will blow your mind. It would be hard enough to make nerdy lyrics to a song like this, but to actually make them parallel in their flow to the original seems insanely hard to me.

Weird Al is the King of parodies. He has been cranking out Top 40 hits for over four decades now.
One of his original songs, Hardware Store, is widely considered to be one of the best rap performances ever issued by human vocal chords.

This is a man who can do basically anything, musically. He absolutely nails every genre, every performance style. His humour never punches down. Everyone swears he's one of the nicest guys they've ever met.

He's just straight up one of the most loved and respected people in the music industry. All of it.

What everyone eventually learns is that Weird Al has more ability and musicianship than anyone that he parodies. He, with a straight face, uses their song and rewrites the lyrics to put together a story that is funny. And he can do any artist or genre. Truly a master at the craft

The equation in the background is a derivation of Schrodingers wave equation describing the motion of a particle within a field in 3 dimensions.

Donny Osmond dancing in the background makes this vid for me, hilarious.
