Boundaries are a thing, she unilaterally ended the relationship which is her right, however, that doesn't mean she keeps boyfriend benefits.

She breaks up with him. He complies and does not behave as a boyfriend anymore. That’s not really what she wants. She wants to tell him just how close he should be and how he should behave. He tries to maintain single status because that’s what she asked for. Somebody wants to have their cake and eat it too.

She was scared if she stayed without questioning herself, she would wake up years later and resent me for a choice she had never really examined. <br><br>Searching for a "perfectly examined" choice is an illusion. There will always be someone smarter, wealthier, or more compatible on paper. Treating a partner as an option to be optimized means she will never stop evaluating. Her lack of understanding that a relationship is choosing your partner every day regardless of other possible choices is a prime indicator that she isn't ready to be in ANY relationship.
