You have never seen reality. Not once. Your entire life has been a simulation running inside your skull, with your senses just checking it's roughly correct.<br>Your eyes jump 3-4 times per second (saccades), each fixation lasting 200-300ms, sampling different parts of the scene. During each jump you're effectively blind — saccadic suppression. Yet you experience no blackout, no flickering. Why? Because the simulation runs continuously. Your eyes aren't building the picture. They're spot-checking a picture that already exists inside your head.<br>This is why magicians work — they fool your model's predictions, not your eyes. Why you don't notice when something changes in an unattended part of a room — your model didn't predict a change, so it never checked. Why dreams feel real — the same simulation is running, just without the eye-checks to correct it.

Dear Yann. It's time to get to work man. Enough podcasts. LLMs are dumb but there's enough scaffolding on them that they've outgrown your old arguments.
