Next year Distrokid is raising their basic fee to load your music onto streaming platforms from $20 to $23 so that adds even more pain to the wound. I read recently that the major labels have a distain for indie artists who aren't signed to them. I believe this is the beginning of a plan to push artists off Spotify that aren't part of Sony, Warner and UMG. They don't want the competition.

It´s not about the money. They are delegitimizing the hard work of independent artists. Depressing.

I really hop EU will make it impossible - at least in EU. They are working on a law which should make streaming platforms pay artists some more royalties, no matter who the distributor is.

I’ve been saying it for years, the fact that they pay artists fractions of a penny per stream is a crime in itself and should be illegal. Straight robbery! <br>Disgusting indeed

The minimum threshold per year thing is fundamentally unethical.

The thing I'm most concerned about is the idea of fining distributors for artists getting streams through bot playlists because sometimes these bot playlists add your songs without your permission. (I think the idea is they think artists will see streams from this thing and then want to pay them for it.)

Spotify should be boycotted, straight up. It can't be a matter of if ones material is actually copywritten through the library of congress or not, because they don't ask for any info regarding a copyright certificate. It's all a ruse to oust any and all independent artists, regardless.

This is infuriating! You should spearhead a class action lawsuit against them.

No matter how many streams an artist is able to achieve, they should receive the income. Artist put their time efforts and money to put those tracks on these platforms. But yeah ..i knew the time is near when the whole online music scene will plumet. As an Artist i will keep making what i love but at the same time a lot of artist will suffer if they don't up their marketing game. Big labels and Streaming platform will always make profits no matter what.
