He should have provided more protection to his floating hut from rainfall by adding more tarp or tent cover then collect rainwater draining from the tarp or tent into drums for washing, cooking and bathing. There are also low-cost solar systems in the market for sustainable lighting then acquire a simple solar-powered AM/FM radio for daily news and updates on the weather or enjoy music at rest times.
