The girls in this video were fined €50 because they boarded the train without a ticket and sat down without informing the ticket inspector. If they had immediately told the inspector that they hadn’t managed to buy a ticket, they would have just paid the regular fare instead of being fined.

  These 60€ extra are the Fine for not riding with a Ticket (in Europe)<br>Its even a crime in Germany ( § 265a StGB Erschleichen von Leistungen )

  The 50 dollars extra is a FINE lol<br><br>EDIT: - Apparently in some countries you actually get a FEE if you buy tickets on board. In my personal view that is the same as a fine (also because in the countries where I live (Netherlands/Germany) there is no such thing and you get fined straight away)<br><br>- Yes, it&apos;s EURO but I simply quoted JT and he said dollars 😂

  You don&apos;t pay twice. The reason you tap a credit, phone or debit card at the exit station as well as the starting station is to tell the machine how long your journey was. &nbsp;The machines are all linked online.

  No, they are not scamming people on the train in Europe. You have to buy the tickets before the train leaves (digital or at a machine). It costs more on the train because they cannot always check everyone and plenty of people will hop on and get free rides. That way, having to pay 50 more incites you to actually pay before hand and not just if the controller comes. In switzerland, you get a 100 fine on top of the ticket. Also, they start checking whenever the agents board or when the train leaves. No scams, just depending on where you are on the train, you will get a later checking time. Some international trains have systems where you have to scan your ticket to get access to the platforms but that is not in every country, and they still control you once on board

  Nobody checks tickets BEFORE you board a train.<br>It&apos;s YOUR responsibility to have the right tickets as you board it.

  if you just refuse to buy the ticket, the conductor will send a nice little call, and there is police in the next station.<br>so if you try to cheat the system, the system will retaliate.

  A Funicular is a train used to climb a steep hill/mountain, being held by a strong-ass cable. Not hanging from the cable, the cable holds it from a pulley at the top of the track. There&apos;s two cars, serving as each other&apos;s counterweight. As one is climbing, the other is making its way down.

  The Dutch system doesn&apos;t charge you at entry but at exit. Based on the start and end it calculates the total fee. To be honest if you as a tourist doesn&apos;t research beforehand what the travel might cost, you shouldn&apos;t travel. I do not live in the Netherlands but I do visit and I find it very convenient. Also double decker trains are quite common in commuter train connections and regional connections in Europe
