Ronnie O'Sullivan equalled Steve Davis's record of 30 Crucible snooker appearances. He reached a record 20th quarter-final and a record 13th semi-final before defeating Judd Trump 18–13 in the final to equal Stephen Hendry's record of seven world titles. It was O'Sullivan's 39th ranking title and 21st Triple Crown title. Aged 46 years and 148 days, he became the oldest world champion in the sport's history, surpassing Ray Reardon, who was aged 45 years and 203 days when he won his last world title in 1978. O'Sullivan also broke Hendry's record of 70 wins at the Crucible, setting a new record of 74.

Video courtensy FRI TV

No one in the game controls the white ball like Ronnie O'Sullivan

When he beat Mark Selby from 16 - 14 behind in the 2020 semi-final on his way to winning a 6th World title. I thought Ronnie winning a 7th and an 8th title was a realistic proposition. My opinion has not changed. The GOAT.

When you consider how many world class players one has to beat to get a tournament win it is amazing stuff. Like Ronnie said, " It is not as easy anymore...."

The way Ronnie walks around the table especially in the corner he twists his leg before turning to play the shot which says everything result of next shot.. Great confidence in attacking mode and particularly in the end of hope in a frame he raise like see how I'm going to turn this frame in to mine and does it like easiest task.. True Legend

The mark of a truly great CHAMPION such as Ronnie O'Sullivan, is that even though he's not at his best, he will find a way to win. This to me was not his best performance by far, but he found a way to win. Not just this match up, for the entire tournament. I just wish he could find some of that magic now, this season, and put number 8 into the history books. Then I think he would be comfortable enough with his accomplishments to retire. I really don't want to see him retire, he's such an icon in the sport and is a huge draw for the spectators. Only Ronnie knows when Ronnie will say it's time to hang it up. Untill that day comes, I wish him all the best and to win many many more tournaments. Ronnie is to snooker as Efren Reyes is to pool, THE FRICKIN GOAT 🐐🐐. The best there is and the best there ever will be.
