  From personal experience, to get people to consume art out of guilt (e.g. &quot;by not watching this you are letting artists starve&quot;) only tends to work on other starving artists that like the idea of people going to their thing. It automatically makes it sound like charity work, but instead of helping people in circumstances they can&apos;t control, it&apos;s for people who just would love to make millions of dollars off a movie. It also automatically shows a complete lack of confidence in your work&apos;s ability to be liked naturally.

  I saw &quot;The Boogeyman&quot; in theaters a couple years ago, a PG-13 horror movie. There was a guy in the audience arguing with his girlfriend and repeatedly yelling at the screen &quot;I&apos;m a Crip, I ain&apos;st scared of this shit!&quot;, which just made him sound scared. They got into a huge blowout fight in the parking lot afterward. This is why you absolutely should see horror movies in theaters.
