The real lesson isn’t just about the destructive power of ice and water—it’s about how interconnected Himalayan communities are with roads, bridges, hydropower, and river valleys that can all be affected by one cascading event. The difficult question now is whether future infrastructure can be designed around these cascading risks instead of treating each threat separately. After an event like this, rebuilding exactly what existed before may not be enough—the bigger challenge is rebuilding a valley that is capable of surviving the next one.

  This literally happened in a matter of minutes. Even Solana, 1win, sodax and others came together to raise funds for the victims in Nepal. It’s a truly terrible tragedy and my heart goes out to everyone affected 🙏

  The explanation that a debris flow can register a seismic signal really put its force into perspective. Tracing the disaster from the valley back up toward the glacier made the scale of what happened much easier to understand.

  Glaciers have carved out our landscape for millions of years..for millions more these Glaciers will continue to do the same thing..The only defense is to not settle in these areas prone to such events..The warning that this will happen again is enough to stay vigilant and prepare for the future
