  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUXMVLExM54&amp;t=84">1:24</a> “Ninja throwing stars trace their origin to a 1950s television show” - totally left us hanging - so who at the tv show thought of this, where did the idea come from? Were they inspired by local folklore or a Donald Duck comic? The latter actually did inform famous Japanese manga, but my point is that the idea origin cannot simply be explained by “It’s on tv” - you have to then get the story of the tv show, and if you don’t know this, then admit so.

  The all-black outfit was from Kabuki theater. There are stage actors who dress in all black kurogo (黒衣) to make things move on stage without being &quot;seen&quot;. They wear all white if the scene is in snow, etc. <br><br>Then in a famous play about thieves, Sannin Kichisa Kuruwa no Hatsugai (三人吉三廓初買), one of the kurogo killed a main character, and since audiences had been trained to ignore the actors dressed all in black it had a lot of came-out-of-nowhere shock value.

  An interesting thing you forgot is that a good portion of these old scrolls is on the usage of firearms, musket, bombs, gunpowder. So these are actually manuals for training some mercenaries for more demanding tasks.
