  My mother always said to me "I hope someday you have a daughter just like you", and then I did. She's difficult, she's stubborn, she has her own way of doing things. I could not POSSIBLY dream of treating her with a fraction of the distain that I was treated with by my own mother. My daughter is my world, and I parent her how I WISH I had been parented.

  I think more and more ppl r realizing that just because they r family, does not mean they have to subject themselves to yrs of whatever negative way their parent(s) treat them.

  As a GenX I saw myself treating my kids how my mother treated me and my siblings. I went to therapy and broke the generational cycle. Almost a year I cut my mother off. I’m happier, healthier no stress and have the best relationship with my children. This video relates so much. Thank you ❤️

  Tbh, I find it more of a red flag for a parent to say their kids don’t speak to them; rather than a kid saying they don’t talk to their parents. I remember reading a post that said “people that are no contact with their parents are red flags.” It’s sad that brainwashing has led people to think family means you have to endure abuse and disrespect.

  I think the day I realized that my mother didn&apos;t give a damn about me was the day my sister held a pew pew against my head and pulled the trigger. It wasn&apos;t loaded, however I did not know that.<br>My parents acted like I was overreacting about it. Imagine, giving such a little of a damn, that you hear your child put a pew pew against another child&apos;s head and pull the trigger and you don&apos;t give a damn

  I just went no contact with my Mom. After 30+ years of abuse, her mask fully slipped. She sent me the most unhinged messages in the early morning. 19 messages of her blaming me, making herself the victim, bashing my deceased father who I loved, and even my husband. She even threatened to put down her animals if I didn&apos;t drop everything and drive 2 hours to see her. <br><br>The Boomer generation isn&apos;t necessarily full of narcissists, but the generation that raised them unwittingly rewarded narcissistic tendencies.
