  German engineering and their ability to produce equipment like this late in the war under an extreme amount of duress is incredible.

  I toured the U-Boat and was fascinated by how something so large seemed so small inside, I loved the tour, and the Maritime museum that is right there beside the U-boat. I rode a train from Paris via Munich to avoid a hotel bill and arrived at Bremerhaven about 7 AM. Had a coffee in of all places The Columbus Centre (Yeah Christopher Columbus) the Town was charming walking around and the U-Boat was the icing on the cake. It is certainly a hugely progressive leap in submarine design and has elements that still exist in the most modern subs. Its a masterclass of engineering.

  Excellent work done here, I&apos;m an American Submariner and the interior on these XXI boats is incredible for that time period, especially during the last two years. True pioneers in Submarine warfare these boats are. I saw the Captains Quarters with the black brimmed hat now a Sub Skipper&apos;s &nbsp;&quot; cover&quot; &nbsp;in the Kreigsmarine would always be white with black brim. Captain is the only member of the crew with such a distinction. I myself was on Fast Attack boats. Plank Owner USS SCRANTON SSN-756. 40,900 German Sub sailors went to war &nbsp;and 28,000 lost their lives with 5,000 being captured, roughly 3 out of 4 never saw home again. Being a Submariner is my finest accomplishment of my youthful years and beyond. The men I served to this very day I&apos;m closer with than my own blood relatives. &nbsp;Thank you for this, exceedingly well done.

  The bravery of the men crewing these is incredible. &nbsp;Just navigating safely for long distances in peacetime would have been stressful enough for most people. &nbsp;Being stuck down in that pump room is just another layer on top of the claustrophobia. &nbsp;The switchboard looks more 60’s/70’s than 40’s technology.
