Discharging yourself from hospital when you're near the end, in order to play snooker is the most Alex Higgins thing you can possibly do. There's only one Alex, only ever will be.

This man battled alcoholism, drugs, and cancer, and still came out to put on a performance for his fans towards the end of his life. What a legend, gone but never forgotten Alex the Hurricane <3

Sad to see how thin and sick he was, but he could still play. One of the greats, him and Jimmy my favourites.

This really pulls on you heart strings.  I was never a big fan of Higgins but his influence on Snooker was significant, literally took the game to a new level.

This man and Mikhail Tal both discharged themselves from the hospital to play one last game before their deaths. Such love for their passions.

I'll always remember getting Alex and john Virgos autographs out side the guild hall with my mate  probably around 1986ish. Both men true gents and both happily sighed their names  and had time for a quick chat . God bless alex true legend.👍☘️☘️☘️

Alex brought snooker to life and made it what it became.  This must have been a very hard match for Cliff Thorburn to play.  Thank you Cliff.

Alex was a Hard act to follow and there will be no other..He was the George Best of Snooker..John Virgo was one of the comedians of the game alongside Steve Davis..Players of that Era were Great Characters..That Era will never be repeated..Generations changed,Sense of Humour changed..Hurricanes are no more😢
