The people of the Marguesas and the whole of Polynesia are perhaps the friendliest people in the world. Yes the islands are breathe taking and the ocean and marine life is absolutely stunning, but the real treasure of Polynesia is its people. Their smiles and laughter. Their singing. That's where youll find paradise. Extraordinary place!

Out of date, many harbor improvements have been made so that ships can dock and unload. I sailed to French Polynesia from the West Coast of NA a few years ago. One of the highlights of my life. I hope I am able to do it again.

I have been lucky enough to have visited Nuka Hiva twice, 1968 and again in 2004, both times on sail boats. In 1968, they were only starting to build a road. It is still an incomparable place. Herman Melvilles book, Typee, takes place there, based on his experience living there among the natives in the 1800’s

I remember reading Fatu Hiva by Thor Heyerdahl. As a kid, I was fascinated by remote islands 🏝.

I would absolutely love to sail these parts with my drone and capture some of this beauty. I lived in Hawaii for years and it seems the Polynesians are so fortunate. Complete paradise.

Wow. I have never seen such beautiful and diverse scenery. One time during a drive on the famous road to Hana on the island of Maui, we stopped at a roadside stand. I said to the residents “this has got to be the most beautiful place in the world”. As stunning as it was, I think I was wrong. It is on one of the islands we visited in this video.
