  I modeled for her in her showroom in the 80’s then saw her walking down the street not too long ago.. I said “Oh you wouldn’t believe it but I modeled for you (as a 60 yr old) she graciously said “I absolutely believe it..” what a class move… 👏👏

  Carolyn Roehm was amazing. I waited on her as a waitress paying for film school. And then when able to pay for one of her creations I met her again when I needed a strap fixed. B Altman's sent me to her showroom and I remember that they didn't charge me and fixed it in the spot. And she was there also. So gracious. And I told her that I had been her waitress and that she had been so kind to me. She thanked me for being a customer and gifted me a set of cards from her soon to launch online shop. I will never forget it. We do not have anymore business women like her left in NYC, believe me. What a dame!!!

  I just love her.  I bought one of her cuff bracelets several years ago from which she gives all the proceeds to the dogs in the shelters.  I still have it and wear it.

  I met her while working as a production assistant on an early Fashion on Fifth shoot. She was gracious, courteous and kind. No snobbery like some of the other designers - very down to earth. Sad that she became a victim of the very people she had been involved with. Kravis was an arrogant & vulgar hedge fund owner - she deserved far better!!

  So nice, to hear that she kept going and didn't gave up or tried to find a new rich husband to continue to take care of her.  Now, that's a very strong woman.

  Her name was Jane Smith. She was two years ahead of me in the School of Fine Arts at Washington University. She was a legend in the Fashion Design Department and it was assumed she would go far.  She did indeed! Henry Kravis was married. When he finally divorced, they married. I think things began to crumble when in 1991,  her husband's 19 area old son died in a car accident. So good to see her story told. She knew how to absolutely make the most of herself.
