  The prosperity gospel, let’s just call it what it is, these pastors are conmen. They teach the exact opposite of what Jesus taught, and they know it, simply to enrich themselves.

  Not sure how scripted this is but it co9mes across as very free-flowing and I have to praise Megan and nominate her best interviewer on YouTube. Precise, brief interjections  drawing out further elaboration in a way that’s immensely satisfying for the viewer with no extraneous unnecessary commentary for the sake of input/airtime. She’s brilliant!

  From having sort of witnessed fundamentalist Christianity over my lifetime, they seem not to set their beliefs by what the bible says, but rather they make the bible say what they believe anyway. Which is awfully convenient, by the way, when they also claim it the objective divine authority of a god.

  Along with Prosperity Gospel comes parishioners selling MLM products, and endorsing Angel funds (loans) for Christian small business owners during the church service!  I went to a church like this, and the message was more about making money, money, money.  It was sickening!

You treat that in a way that’s their best interest”<br><br>That contradicts the fundy tropes of “love the sinner hate the sin” and “thoughts and prayers”

  Dang. &nbsp;I&apos;ve only heard his voice or read some of his work. &nbsp;For 68 he&apos;s aging pretty well. &nbsp;This man does wonderful work hopefully we have him for 30 more years.

  funny story: my parents are fundies and impossibly immoral and unkind, etc. my ex said why don&apos;t i remind them of the beatitudes? i laughed. bc they don&apos;t care what jesus said. they&apos;re saved thus can do no wrong bc all of their actions are sanctified. they only read select apocalyptic passages and are entirely focused on voting for the president who will pass &quot;christian&quot; legislation. <br><br>my father has been a minister since before my birth, was a friend of jerry falwell, and all of his sermons/teaching has been about the 2nd coming per independent baptist thinking. the beatitudes? anything jesus said? not at all important to them. they literally believe all of their actions are infallible. even when clearly demonstrably wrong. <br><br>but i&apos;m a sinner bc i was never saved, been accused of being demon possessed for confronting them. my dad has said &quot;get thee behind me satan&quot; to me when ive pointed out his hypocrisy. im sure other exvangelicals have similar stories and experiences with family. <br><br>i took it seriously when i was christian and volunteered at homeless shelters, with &quot;battered women&quot; shelters, i still do a lot of this. went to seminary but because i deconverted they&apos;ve said nothing ive ever done has value bc i was never a christian and so never &nbsp;did any of it for god. but they value anyone who just says they&apos;re saved over any good action. bc when: they don&apos;t value any of what jesus said. my mother likes to remind me i&apos;ll be burning in hell while she dances in heaven with the family enjoying her personal mansion. <br><br>it&apos;s truly such insanity that is used to validate the absolute worst in human nature.
