What was the first piece of AV tech from the last 60 years that blew your mind? I'd love your comments - John.

TBH the rooms from the 70’s to 90’s looked a lot cosier than today’s minimalist , no clutter aesthetic.

The past 35 years began with a VHS stereo recorder partner with a 2.0 stereo integrated amplifier going through the DVD era to the recent 4K Blu-ray, OLED TV with 2.1 integrated amplifier will never reduce my enthusiasm towards the AV system that has been my primary entertainment experience and enjoyment......It's my life!

Thanks John, great video, I remember when my Dad brought a Sony music centre , (turntable, cassette deck & radio, with two speakers) , from a John Lewis store, and this was the first time we had proper stereo at home.. Each change has been incremental since then :)

What a great video! The start of my AV journey (and career) started with a Pioneer laserdisc player with a SCART lead into a Sony 21” 4:3 CRT with audio Harmon Kardon AVR with Mission 5.0 - no sub as it wouldn’t fit into my box bedroom are my parent house (or if it did, I wouldn’t!).

Great big sweeping chunk of nostalgia. I'm 65 and have experienced the full sweep of the history shown throughout this video. My dad was a musician and audiophile- a real tech buff and early adopter. I just recently upgraded my system and Peter Tyson played a central role in achieving my dream. Unfortunately for the first time in my life my dad was unable to give his seal of approval as his health was in decline and he sadly passed last weekend. He was 91 and lived through so many of the tech developments- his description of hearing stereo for the first time was incredible- like my gran describing seeing and hearing Al Jolson in the Jazz Singer almost 100 years ago. I'm excited to see what great leaps in tech development will happen in the next couple of years. I do know Peter Tyson will be here to help us chart a course through and provide the same excellent service.

Great video. What started it for me was replacing some old Sony speakers with Mordaunt Short Pageant Series 2. What a difference.

Great video and a fun look back into history! We had one TV channel until 1968 when I was 11. Glorious Black and White! At least I didn't have to get up to change the channel. lol We got a color TV and cable in 1968 and my life changed. We had a crappy console stereo. It wasn't until 1975 when I was in the Navy and had my first spending money (168 dollars every 2 weeks) that I could buy my first stereo system and I have owned many systems since. Audiophilia, a disease for which there is no cure. Not that we want one! lol
